New construction
Cast Stone
Cast stone gives brick and stone homes their finish: crisp window surrounds, sills, keystones, columns and caps. We set it level and plumb, with tight joints to the masonry around it.
How we do it
A cast stone sill that's out of level, or a surround that isn't square, shows from the street. Each piece goes on a full mortar bed and is anchored where the design calls for it. Its joints match the brick or stone around it.
We install new cast stone on new construction and add or replace pieces on existing homes, such as a cracked sill, a new address plaque, or caps for a column or wall.
What's included
- Window and door surrounds, headers and sills
- Keystones, quoins and decorative bands
- Columns, column caps and wall caps
- Fireplace mantels and surrounds
- Address plaques and monument signs
- Replacement of cracked or damaged pieces
Questions we hear about cast stone
What's the difference between cast stone and natural stone?
Cast stone is a molded architectural concrete made to look like cut limestone. It's consistent in size and color, which makes it a good fit for trim pieces that need to repeat across a house.
Can you replace a single cracked sill?
Usually, yes. We cut out the damaged piece, set a new one to match, and repoint the joints around it.
