Cleaning

Brick and stone get dirty: white efflorescence, mortar smears, rust, mildew and years of grime. We clean them back to their true color without damaging the face.

How we do it

The wrong cleaner or too much pressure can etch brick, wash out mortar and leave a wall looking worse than before. We always test a small area first. Then we clean with the gentlest product that does the job and rinse at a pressure the masonry can take.

Cleaning is often the first step before sealing, and it's how we finish every new masonry job.

What's included

  • Efflorescence (white haze) removal
  • Mortar smear and new-construction cleanup
  • Rust, mildew and organic stain removal
  • Low-pressure washing safe for brick and mortar
  • Test areas before any full cleaning

Questions we hear about cleaning

What is the white powder on my brick?

That's efflorescence: salts carried to the surface by moisture. We can clean it off, but it's worth finding where the water is coming from so it doesn't come back.

Can't I just pressure wash it myself?

You can, but high pressure can damage brick faces and blow out mortar joints. If you do it yourself, keep the pressure low and the tip well back from the wall.
