Brick & stone masonry in Dallas and East DFW

Dallas has brick houses from the 1920s a few streets from brand-new builds. We repair, clean and build brick and stone from the older neighborhoods in town out to Rockwall.

Older brick, repaired to match

Many Dallas neighborhoods were built from the 1920s through the 1960s, and the brick on those houses often isn't made anymore. To match it, we look for salvaged or close brick, then match the mortar color and the way the joints were tooled.

Clay that moves

Dallas, Garland, Mesquite and Rockwall sit on the same expansive clay as the rest of the prairie, and on older houses decades of that movement show up as stair-step cracks, gaps at windows and loose brick at corners. We repair the brick, and we'll tell you when the cracking points to a foundation problem that needs a foundation company first.

Cleaning, sealing and new work

Brick that has been up for fifty years collects stains, efflorescence and old paint. We clean it with methods that don't damage the face of the brick, and we seal it when it makes sense. Plenty of the work here is new too: archways, outdoor grills, flower beds and stone accents on remodels and additions.

Retaining walls and permits

Most cities in the area require a permit, and often an engineered design, for a retaining wall over about four feet tall or one that holds up a driveway, a pool or a slope behind a house. The exact rule varies from city to city, so we check with the building department before we quote a tall wall, and we tell you up front when an engineer needs to be involved.

Questions we hear in Dallas & East

My brick isn't made anymore. Can you still repair it?

Usually. We look for salvaged brick or the closest current match, then match the mortar color and joint to the wall around it.

Is my cracked brick a foundation problem?

Sometimes. Stair-step cracks can come from normal soil movement or from a foundation that needs work. If it looks like the foundation, we'll tell you so it gets fixed before the brick is repaired.
